Take your family on an adventure to the beautiful Montezuma Falls in Tasmania! This hidden gem is the perfect family-friendly attraction near Queenstown.

Located in West Coast Range, Montezuma Falls are the tallest in Tasmania. The picturesque views will take your breath away! Imagine the excitement on your kids' faces as they observe the power of the falls up close.

Montezuma Waterfalls is situated in the West Coast region of Tasmania and is a short 1-hour drive from the nearby towns of Zeehan, Strahan and Queenstown via the Murchison Highway.

Montezuma Falls trail

The Montezuma Falls trailhead is located in the small town of Rosebery, TAS. The trail is pram-friendly, with a well-maintained, low degree of difficulty and easy-to-follow beautiful rainforest pathway. 

The hike is an 8 km (2 hours) return walk. The track will bring you to the base of the 103 - 110 m / 338 - 361 ft high falls and a bridge that offers excellent views.

The falls are also surrounded by a beautiful rainforest, with plenty of opportunities for kids to explore and discover. Kids will love it. Just bring water and snacks with you!

There are toilets and picnic tables at the start of the trail only. So pack a picnic and make a day of it! 

Montezuma Falls suspension bridge

Montezuma Falls also features a suspension bridge across the river and offers a unique viewpoint of the falls and the surrounding Tasmanian wilderness.

You can walk through a little tunnel and the bridge to get a closer look at the falls that come down.

Please note that the bridge could sometimes be closed for safety or maintenance reasons.

Montezuma Falls dogs

Dogs are allowed at Montezuma Falls but must be on a leash.
