The St Kilda accessible beach is located in St. Kilda, Port Phillip, which is in 6 kilometres or 20 min drive south from Melbourne CBD. If you use public transport, you can access the beach by accessible trams from the CBD and with accessible stops along the way. If you travel by public transport, the closest tram stop is on Acland Street, which is 650 metres away.
A Mobi-Chair beach wheelchair is available for use on a free of charge basis during peak season. However, bookings are strictly required.
You can book a Mobi-Chair beach wheelchair by using the contact details below (usually two weeks in advance) and access it at the St Kilda Life Saving Club during patrols from 11 am up until 7 pm:

Please note that all the beach wheelchairs require assistance and supervision as they are not independent chairs. The adult size Mobi-Chair has armrests and wheels made from materials that enable it to float in water, up to the waist height of a support person. If you want to enter deep water, you need a minimum of two support people to do so.
LOCATION FACILITIES AND OPERATING SEASON:
- Standard operating dates: December to March inclusive
- Standard matting hours: Thursday - Wednesday 11 am - 7 pm
- Bookings are for 1.5 hours
- Beach matting is up to the hard sand
- Accessible bathroom (located in the St Kilda Life Saving Club building)
- Accessible shower
- Accessible toilet (on the side of the St Kilda Life Saving Club)
- Accessible change room (located at the St Kilda Life Saving Club & available with the use of MLAK key)
- Accessible parking (on the main road, in front of Donovan's restaurant, 40 Jacka Boulevard, St Kilda)
- Compliant lead-up pathways
- There is no Mobi-Mat wheelchair parking on the sand
- Hoist available in changing places bathroom
- Shade (around the St Kilda Life Saving Club but it is limited in the afternoon)
- Cafes (next to the St Kilda Life Saving Club)
- Bench seating to have lunch
