Yorkeys Knob Foreshore Park is a fantastic place to visit for a fun day out with family and kids, with lots of free activities in Cairns, QLD. From strolling along the shore, swimming and playing beach volleyball at Yorkey's Beach, to enjoying two playgrounds and a picnic or BBQ, there's something here for everyone!

There are two playgrounds for kids of all ages to have fun at Yorkeys Knob Foreshore Park: a small beach playground at the northern end of the park and a larger adventure playground on the southern end.

Play equipment includes:

  • Slides and swings
  • Climbing structures
  • Mini rock climbing wall
  • Wobbling bridge
  • Flying fox

There's also some fitness equipment great for older kids and adults.

  • BBQs
  • Picnic tables
  • Toilets and shower
  • Car parking spots

There is a flat path along the coast and through the park on the Esplanade that is pram and wheelchair friendly. Unfortunately there is not much accessible playground equipment for all abilities.

It's important to read the safety notices on the beach to make sure you are staying safe. There is a risk of stingers and crocodiles being present in the water, so swim carefully. There are also some parts of the beach that do not allow swimming due to strong waves and currents.

Dog friendly

Yorkeys Knob is a dog friendly beach and park and dogs are often walking on the esplanade. Dogs must be on leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the playgrounds.
