If you're looking for fun things to do in Port Macquarie during the NSW school holidays, experience the beauty of nature by taking the kids on a day trip to Ellenborough Falls, New South Wales. And don't forget to bring your furry friend with you, as dogs are allowed here!

Ellenborough Falls, Australia, is located in the Tapin Tops National Park (Northern NSW). It's the third tallest fall in the country, about 120 - 130 m / 394 - 427 ft.

With ample parking near the waterfall, spacious and clean picnic ground, public toilet and scenic lookout points - it's one of the best free things to do in Port Macquarie NSW and the perfect spot to take the whole family!

Everyone will enjoy the Ellenborough Falls Walk, which offers breathtaking views of cascading water and beautiful nature! You could even swim around the waterfall at the base of the falls.

A little Ellenborough Falls kiosk offers drinks and homemade pies, open until 4 pm so the kids can grab some treats!

Walking down the stairs (about 700 steps) can be difficult for younger kids because of some steep parts, but it's worth it! However, be aware that the walk back up is a long distance and could be challenging, especially for younger children!

The drive to Ellenborough Falls from Port Macquarie could take up to 2 hours.
