Located just 45 minutes from Queenstown, Glenorchy is a rustic, historic town built on the northern shoreline of the beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Accessible via car or bike (if you're up for a 3 hour ride), the trail to Glenorchy is an incredibly scenic one, so the adventure has started before you even arrive. Once in the region you'll be bombarded with things to see and do! Adventurers will love the chance to go jet boating on Lake Wakatipu and the Dart River, while hiking enthusiasts' feet will be itching at the thought of trekking some of the country's best trails.

Movie buffs might recognise some of Glenorchy's landscapes from scenes of the popular fantasy trilogy; The Lord of the Rings. If you're looking to just take it easy and admire the natural beauty that is on show in the Glenorchy region, then pack a picnic and pull up a spot on the shore of Lake Wakatipu for an enjoyable and calming afternoon.
