What you need to know

Come and experience an authentic Aboriginal culture with the Tjapukai people in Cairns. Wander through the Magic Space to view authentic stone age artifacts once used by the Tjapukai tribe. Murals created by Tjapukai artists tell the legends of the past. Enjoy the sounds of the haunting didgeridoo in the Nature's Voice Theatre. The Didgeridoo - A Journey show explores the traditional didgeridoo and incorporates contemporary music with beautiful images of the distinctive region. The Creation theatre tells the stories of the dreamtime and traditional beliefs of the Tjapukai people.

Move through to the Tjapukai Dance Theatre to experience a dance performance of Tjapukai traditional corroborees. The Cultural Village will provide an opportunity to interact with members of the Tjapukai community. Try your hand at boomerang and spear throwing. Listen, learn and ask questions on what traditional hunting techniques and weapons were used 40,000 years ago. For those that are keen to broaden their knowledge on bush foods and medicines, Tjapukai provides short demonstrations for you.
