South Bank - Brisbane’s bustling cultural precinct - is filled with a large selection of activities, eateries and shops for all ages to enjoy. The Streets Beach is one of the main attractions of the parklands, it is the only inner city beach in Australia and is always splashing with visitors - the perfect way to cool day after a big day exploring Brisbane city. Complete with sandy beaches, a crystal-clear lagoon, pebbled creeks and shady shallows, you will feel as if you’ve been transported to the beach without the added hassle of travelling long distances.
South Bank is a foodie heaven, with the wide variety of eateries serving up delicious meals, snacks and desserts daily. Visitors have the option of dining in at one of the river front restaurants or grabbing a quick bite at some of Australia’s popular food franchises - the options are endless. Cuisines include Mexican, Greek, Italian, Modern Australian, Asian and American to name a few, each satisfying different tastes.
If you’re lucky enough to snatch up some tickets for the latest show playing at QPAC or the Convention Centre, you will not be disappointed. Large acts and performances are constantly being held at these popular locations, nourishing all of your musical, comedy and art needs. Previous productions featured in QPAC include The American Ballet’s Swan Lake, Wicked The Musical, and TV funnyman Nick Offerman - the Convention and Exhibition Centre have housed various acts and events such as pop sensations One Direction, the Australian Travel Expo and international comedian; John Cleese.
The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is another must-see when visiting South Bank. Showcasing a number of free and paid exhibits both permanent and travelling, the gallery is open to the public to enjoy the interesting, stimulating and intriguing pieces on display. Other popular attractions include the multi-screen cinema; Cineplex and weekend markets; The Collective Markets.
