Mt Lofty Summit
What you need to know
In terms of sweeping, panoramic views of Adelaide and its surrounds, there are few better ports of call than Mt. Lofty Summit; however there's more than merely a simple visit-snap-and-leave lookout point on offer here. As the highest of the peaks in the Mount Lofty Ranges, visitors to ascend to the summit will reach a viewpoint 710 metres above sea level and gain a great outlook of Adelaide city itself as well as the surrounding plains and valleys. The entire attraction is well curated to provide a balance of both insight and views, with multiple information signs detailing local landmarks, coin-operated telescopes, a gift shop, restaurant and cafe all in one.
The hybrid restaurant/cafe will make a visit to Mt Lofty worth sticking around for, as it offers surprisingly high quality meals (that are vegan-compatible) along with a wide variety of cakes that make for a great compliment to a cup of coffee. The combination of dining and views is rare in Adelaide, and as a result it's well worth enjoying a meal for first-time visitors to the city and locals who have never tackled the summit alike. A viable spot at both day and night, Mt. Lofty offers "dining with a view" of the highest order.
